Should using eco friendly wedding stationery be a consideration?
It is easy to think that our one single purchase won’t make any difference at all. Although what if everyone who buys wedding stationery considers buying eco friendly wedding stationery? The impact would be become much greater.
Organising a wedding and choosing the right wedding stationery is an exciting time but can also be a bit overwhelming. There are just so many amazing wedding suppliers out there it can be difficulty to know when to stop looking and choose. There is a way to instantly narrow down the endless list of wedding suppliers. It is to choose an environmentally friendly wedding. The amount of suppliers available to choose from may be smaller but the quality certainly will not be.
If you are thinking of choosing environmentally friendly wedding stationery there are a few things to consider. There are two different types of environmentally friendly paper to choose from.
Recycled Paper
The first is recycled paper. As the title suggests it is recycled and therefore no trees were used in the production of the paper. It can also reduces deforestation therefore saving animals and valuable oxygen, which is great! With any recycled paper it is important to check how much of the paper is actually recycled. Also what it has been recycled from. The recycled paper to choose is one that is 100% recycled and produced from 100% post consumer waste (it is this type of recycled paper we use at Paperchain) . Today manufacturers are required to list the percentage.
FSC Registered Paper
The second is FSC registered paper (Forest Stewardship Council). This non-profit group does a incredible amount of work to protect the worlds forests. They make sure that forests are managed in a sustainable and ethical way. Any paper that has a FSC certification has been produced with sustainable practices.

Packaging
We always ensure that all wedding stationery is packaged in recycled or reused boxes. Any plastic packaging materials such as bubble wrap or air cushions will only ever be used if they are being ‘reused’ and we hope that you will be able to reuse them again!

All of the digital print presses that we operate are backed by great recycling schemes so all of the consumables have a minimal impact upon the environment.
